When I started out going to shows alone, I was so anxious! There was something in me that was telling me that I should have someone with me.

So, I’ve googled a bit and some people were in the same position as me, went to shows alone, and enjoyed it.

So I did it too! And here, I’ll sum up what I’ve learned from going to live shows alone

Enjoying the moment is a skill

If you’re stuck in your head and always think about something else, and can’t really put your heart into dancing… Fear not. Some people do not come with the “dancing, having fun and enjoying the present moment” software installed.

If you’re a warrior, then you have to install it yourself!

After multiple shows were I went alone, I’ve learned to truly enjoy the present moment. I have way less intrusive thoughts than before about work, or judging people around me. I just dance, vibe to the music, do weird moves. I don’t expect social interactions anymore.

My point is that if you’re socially awkward, well, it’s not the end of the world. You can always learn it, and going to shows alone is a good way to do it

Stars are humans like us

This is a realization that I had at my last show. Artists are literally humans, and their shows are their equivalent of PowerPoint presentations (but they’re better).

You can become a famous artist too! The hard part is building your brains so much that it becomes interesting to other people.

We’re just blobs of flesh vibing to mathematics

There’s a funny pattern that I noticed when going to shows…

  1. People are vibing
  2. Music is mathematics
  3. People are flesh

–> blobs of flesh are vibing to mathematics!

So yeah. Just think of yourself as another blob of flesh vibing to sound waves, mathematics, and feelings.

You don’t have to bring a friend to enjoy a show

I’d even dare to say that it’s the opposite. The rare time I invited someone else to a show, it was super hard to enjoy it because I want to make sure that the people like it, and always glance at them, and cannot really enjoy the moment.

So until the moment I can vibe on command, I won’t bring friends to shows I go to.

You’re the hippie

When you go to a show, you go to a special place. The rules are different; you can become a hippie if you’d like.

My point is that you can build a personality just for the show! People will love it. And you will probably find out that there is a large overlap between the fake personality you chose and your true one!

So for now, I’d like to embody the hippie as much as I can when I go to shows… Well, my version of hippie.

Take the fucking plane!

Here, another realization I had at a show!

You can take a plane now and drastically change your life.

You can start again in a new place. (Well, it costs money… But I’d guess that most people following this blog have a bit of spare money, haha).

If you radically change the framework (culture) you are working with, your consciousness will have to learn to adapt itself. It will become fluider and it will result in you being more happy.

I’m spitting a lot of bullshit

Yeah. I might be spitting out a lot of bullshit right now, but I really want to share my small nuggets of insights.

Most of them will probably not apply to you.

What will apply to you though, is that if you can find a place where you have 0 idea how to act, and do it alone, you will grow to become a better version of yourself.

Shows therapy

Ok, I invented a new form of therapy here. It’s for autistic antisocial people like me.

  1. You take drugs
  2. You go to a show
  3. Try to enjoy it as hard as you can, find out what makes it hard to enjoy the present moment
  4. Do some fixes
  5. Repeat

By regularly going to a show and evaluating your ability to appreciate the present moment, you will have a clear idea of what you need to improve.

For me, it was chronic pain, anxiety, and also psychological stuff.

Tonight, I really enjoyed the present moment. So I feel like I graduated now! I am now the vibe man…

By acting like the hippie, I became the hippie.
